At UNIDO's year-end wrap-up meeting in 2020, Zhao Xiaolei, Co-Director of the SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development and Head of UNIDO ITPO Shanghai, received the UNIDO Director-General's Exemplary Excellence Award, approved by Director-General Li Yong, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to UNIDO.
The year 2020 is destined to be a remarkable year, marking the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and the start of the United Nations Decade of Action on Sustainable Development Goals 2030. However, at the beginning of the New Year, the world is gripped by an unprecedented global economic and social crisis, which has exposed the fragility of social, political and economic systems and made the recovery process extremely difficult.
Facing with many difficulties, Zhao Xiaolei led the UNIDO ITPO Shanghai team to actively cooperate with local governments and the private sector on a global scale, relying on the UNIDO ITPO network to promote industrial technology innovation and global cooperation, focusing on women's empowerment in the digital era, promoting a more resilient economy in the recovery phase, and promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
